URGENT NEED FOR VOLUNTEERS!
With our tournament coming up November 19-21, the Wheelin' Jazz and Salt Lake County Adaptive Sports are in need of volunteers. We need scorekeepers, clock operators, food servers, drivers, etc.. If you are able to give us a hand, please email info@wheelinjazz.com.

We are also looking for a volunteer to take charge of the annual celebrity game. This is a big task and one that needs a very organized and self starting person. Please email info@wheelinjazz.com if you think you may be that person.

Upcoming
The new season is coming up and we're excited to get back on the floor. Our adult team is starting its 21st season and we have a lot to look forward to. We have been in 2 or the last 3 Final Fours. We believe we can win it all with hard work and dedication. A little scoreboard will help too. We will begin our practice sessions on September 7 at Copperview Recreation Center in Midvale.

Our Juniors team is starting its 2nd season and we have high hopes for their future. Coming off a successful first season has given us a boost in morale. The Juniors begin practice September 8 on Wednesday nights this year at Copperview Recreation Center in Midvale.

If you need further information, send an email to info@wheelinjazz.com.

Our Mission
The Wheelin' Jazz have two missions. First, to allow those that are differently abled to participate at a high level of competition and further their athletic pursuits. Second is to be role models and peers to others differently abled to let them know that life is not over because of an injury or birth defect.

Management Retreats Print E-mail

A Management retreat represents a significant investment of time and energy. Many companies refrain from holding them because they are regarded as time consuming, and perhaps even a bit frivolous. Or, they think a retreat is only for Fortune 100 corporations. However, conducted properly, they can be your best overall investment for making decisions to help move your business into a more successful future.

Being part of a small business leadership team is a lot like being enrolled in a management training program -- the learning opportunities can be extremely beneficial. Leadership teams share accountability for the company's success, and elements that must be managed include your employees, clients, and customers.

layneshawnTeamwork is usually a theme of any Corporate/Company retreat. Let the Wheelin' Jazz help. We provide the wheels. You provide the team. Everyone gets involved and the fun begins.

A retreat can be as simple as the management team playing a fun game against the Wheelin' Jazz. Or get in the chairs for a robust game with the managers playing on teams against each other with the winning team getting some extra vacation days or different prizes. Or do both.

When the games finish, you can have our team members give personal experiences that coincide with the goals of your retreat. Our players are always willing to give personal, touching, heartbreaking, and inspiring messages that will lift your team to higher corporate excellence.

APX Alarms makes Donation Print E-mail

Feb 27, 2010 - APX Alarm Systems recently invited the Wheelin' Jazz to their facility in Provo, Utah to play a game against the management team. In addition, the APX Family Foundation made a $5,000 donation to Neuroworx to aid the Wheelin' Jazz in their upcoming travels.

First up, Shawn Brenchley wanted to put his managers to the test by having them play against one another. With a trip to Disneyland on the line, they went at it for 20 minutes. Competition was fierce and when the horn sounded, nothing had been decided. It took an extra five minute overtime period to decide the game.

Then the Wheelin' Jazz took the court. After spotting the APX managers a 10 point lead, they realized that these guys were just a bit too athletic and fell to the APX team. Wheelin' Jazz members in attendance included Mike Schlappi, Rod Niemann, Bret Reminton, and Layne Mangum as well as Junior members Sam Blakley, Aimee Vargas, Marshall Lindsay, Jason Hall, and Spencer Heslop.

After the game, Shawn Brenchley presented the donation to Mike Schlappi, member of the Neuroworx board of directors. Mike expressed his sincere appreciation for the gift and gave a short inspirational message to all that attended.

A big thank you to APX Alarms and the APX Family Foundation for the opportunity to share our talents with them, and the generous donation they offered. Please visit the APX website by clicking here.
