Salt Lake County Adaptive hosts the Annual Turkey Shootout Wheelchair Basketball Tournament as well as providing sports chairs for use by new players that can't afford their own. The tournament and practices are held at Copperview Recreation Center in Midvale. A big THANK YOU to Adaptive Director, Jeff Burley for organizing and covering the costs of the tournament.
Neuroworx, a 501c3 non-profit charitable organization, was formally organized in November 2003 by a group of people who recognized a need to provide more for individuals who were afflicted with paralysis due to spinal cord injuries. The founders developed several objectives including the creation of a state-of-the-art outpatient physical therapy clinic, NEUROWORX.
Neuroworx is a licensed physical therapy clinic dedicated to providing innovative, activity-based therapy to individuals with paralysis from spinal cord injuries. Dale Hull and Jan Black are the co-founders of the Hull Foundation and Neuroworx. The Wheelin' Jazz are very grateful for the efforts they put in behind the scenes to help the team.
A yearly event that helps the Wheelin' Jazz is the April Fools Celebrity Wheelchair Basketball Game. This year, the Wheelin' Jazz honor Curt Brinkman. We have had two successful outings with several local celebrities taking part. Our 2010 game featured scorekeeper bribery that netted the team over $600. A lot of fun is had for all. The game this year will be held March 31, 2011 at Jordan High School in Sandy, Utah.
